Industrial Design and Engineering

Industrial design and engineering often overlap as they should. I have heard of engineers complaining about unrealistic designers and designers complaining of rigid engineers. I thrive in this space between the two disciplines. By engineering a bit myself and encouraging the engineers to attempt some design, mutual respect occurs. I also like to challenge the engineers to ponder concepts that may seem extreme or eccentric early in the design process. This always gets them engaged in the project early and allows time and room for many solutions rather than the obvious ones. In the end we may pair back from the original concepts but we're always happier than if we didn't role up our sleeves and play. More»

Software engineering vernacular is esoteric so I like to use tools all parties can easily understand.
